RUIDOSO ANNOUNCES AAFW WAGER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Future Wager Announced

For All American Futurity

Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico (May 27, 2010) -  Wagering on the All American Futurity, quarter horse racing showcase event, reaches an new level this summer with the introduction of the All American Future Wager.

Beginning on July 15-18 this innovative wagering pool is provided with the goal of selecting the winner of the Grade 1, $2,000,000 All American Futurity, contested on Labor Day. Fans will be able to choose from 23 2-year-old quarter horse prospects who are determined by experts as the leading contenders to win the 440-yard All American Futurity. Fans will also be able to select all the other horses who are not among the 23 listed horses.

Racing fans will place non-refundable win wagers at a potentially large mutuel payoff compared to the actual payoff of the All American Futurity winner. It is fashioned after the popular Kentucky Derby Future Wager. This year’s Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver returned $18 to win on a $2 ticket purchased on race day. He paid up to $73 to win in future wagering.

“The All American Futurity is the most sought-after race in the Quarter Horse industry and we are excited about giving racing fans an innovative opportunity to bet on a great field of horses,” said Ann McGovern, Ruidoso Downs’ president and general manager.

“The All American Futurity was the first $1,000,000 race and $2,000,000 race. We are excited to offer the first future pool wager on a quarter horse race. This continues the precedent-setting excellence of the world richest quarter horse race.”

The All American Futurity takes another step forward next year. Beginning in 2011, the All American Futurity will offer a purse estimated at a record $2,400,000 with a $1,200,000 guarantee to the winner.

This year’s derby purses at Ruidoso Downs are at record levels. The Ruidoso Derby purse is at a record $538,000 (up $150,000 from the previous record), the Rainbow Derby could have an $800,000 purse and the All American Derby is estimated to have a purse of $1,500,000. These derbies will be three of the four richest derbies for quarter horses in 2011 with the All American derby holding the top position.

To inform fans about the horses in the All American Future Wager, a weekly poll of the top 25 2-year-old quarter horses will be published for six weeks prior to the pool dates.

Wagering availability will include virtually all quarter horse tracks, including California and New Mexico wagering outlets. Other outlets are account wagering websites, including TVG. Fans are encouraged to check their local track, OTB and favorite account wagering site for availability.
