Vital Winner Heads Fine Loom

Vital Winner In Fine Loom,
Tops Memorial Day Ruidoso Card
RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (May 28, 2010) – Debra Gotovac’s well-traveled and hard-knocking gelding Vital Winner shoots for his 21st career when he starts in the $30,000 Fine Loom Handicap over 870 yards on Memorial Day at Ruidoso Downs.
First post time for the 10-race card is 1 p.m. with the Fine Loom running as the ninth race.
Racing at Ruidoso Downs then resumes on Thursday afternoon with the usual Thursday through Sunday schedule.
Since leaving Ruidoso Downs last summer the Brad Bolen-trained Vital Winner has raced at Lone Star Park near Dallas, Hialeah Park near Miami and Remington Park in Oklahoma City. The 6-year-old gelding won stakes at Lone Star Park and Hialeah, and finished second in three stakes races at Remington Park.
In his most recent start, he was sent off as the 11-10 favorite in the Oklahoma Red Cell Distance Challenge and finished second by two lengths
Cody Wainscott gets the riding assignment aboard Vital Winner with the sixth post position.
The thoroughbred Loves Bonus won the 870-yard King Rick Rack Stakes at Zia Park last fall and comes off a win in and four-and-a-half furlong allowance race at SunRay Park.
Family Day is on Saturday at Ruidoso Downs with events for the entire family starting at 9 am. The activities include stick-horse races for kids from the starting gate, a visit from retired racehorse Already Rude along with food and drink specials.
